  1. Which operating system is the ImageMaster USB camera compatible with?

    The ImageMaster USB camera is UVC (USB Video Class) making it compatible with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP SP3, 32 Bit, Mac OS and Linux.


  2. What dental imaging software is the ImageMaster USB compatible with?

    It is compatible with ApteryX V-3.12, Dexis 10 or higher, XDR, Eagle Soft, Suni, DentalEye, Gendex VixWin, Kodak 6.12, call us for the latest other versions and updates.


  3. Does my new camera need drivers to be installed to operate?

    Typically no! It is a plug and play UVC device and the camera's drivers are built into the Windows Operating System.


  4. Why can't I get an image on the screen when I open up my dental imaging software?

    1. Make sure that the camera is plugged into the USB port securely at both ends
    2. Check your imaging program settings and make sure that the correct USB device is selected. i.e. Select "ImageMaster USB" or "USB Video Device" for Win XP, see support page.
    3. To make sure the camera is working in your computer, use our diagnostic test tool that is on the CD that comes with your camera. Run the program CamCheck on the CD and follow instructions. If the camera works in this program, please consult with your IT person.


  5. Why can't I capture an image with the camera's capture button?

    1. Make sure the software is configured for the camera (Apteryx STI)
    2. You can use the diagnostic tool to verify if the capture button is working.


  6. Why is the color not correct?

    1. If the color is not correct when inside the mouth, make sure that the color setting in the software is set to the default (restore default settings by clicking "Default" and then uncheck the AWB
    2. If the color outside the mouth is purple, set the color setting in the software to the Auto White balance setting.


  7. What is the longest single length USB cable I'm allowed to run with my camera?

    1. 15 foot cable is the longest length.
    2. Over 15 feet, you will need a USB active extension/repeater cable. Call us!


  8. If I disconnect my ImageMaster USB camera when the video screen is running, what will this do?

    1. It is recommended that you close the imaging window before disconnecting
    2. Typically the software's video screen will lock up, you will need to close the video window and re-open the window.
    3. In some programs you will need to close your imaging program and re-open.


  9. When using the USB camera, the software locks up.

    1. Check the USB cable at both ends on the camera and make sure that the cable is completely seated inside the connector.
    2. Try another USB port. If this continues, contact our service department.
